What is Spot UV or Spot Gloss?

Spot UV or Spot Gloss is a high gloss coating placed over specific areas of your business card. Your business card overall will have a matte finish. A high gloss coating can be placed over text or graphics. This enhances colors in your graphics and sometimes gives the feeling of embossed or raised lettering.

What are Silk Business Cards?

Silk business cards have a silky lamination placed over them after print. The coating has a silky feel that is unique and impressive. The laminate has a flat matte finish yet still holds it’s clarity and sharpness. Silk lamination is a fairly new process that many have not yet heard of or seen. You must see and feel them to understand them.

Can I split my order between two or more people?

Unfortunately, no. Often we are asked if we can split an order of 1000 business cards between two people. Unfortunately, we are not able to do this. Each order can only be for one file.

How can I set up a file for metallic silver and gold ink?

Silver or gold ink files must be sent in a vector format. You must use a vector program, like Illustrator or Indesign, to call out the object you want in silver and/or gold ink. PLEASE USE VECTOR BASED PROGRAMS ONLY – NO RASTERIZED IMAGES To indicate the silver or gold ink, you must set the object color to Pantone® 877 C. for silver or Pantone® 872 C for gold. Any other color will not be accepted as silver. Also, labeling the layer as “silver mask” or “silver” will not qualify your file. Please send separate files in addition to your color files, for the metallic mask file.

Should I include crop marks in my file?

Don’t ever include crop marks in your artwork. Always submit your artwork at trim size + bleed. An example of bleed setup for a 4″ x 6″ postcard would be 4.125″ x 6.125″.

What are your resolution requirements?

All rasterized (bitmap) images must be at least 300 dpi. However, 400 dpi for photo images and 1200 dpi for text and line art is highly recommended.

What are the bleed requirements?

All files must include a 1/8″ (0.125 inch) bleed regardless if your design bleeds to the edge or not. An example of bleed setup for a 4″ x 6″ postcard would be 4.125″ x 6.125″

What color space should I send my files in?

All files should be sent in CMYK. Any files submitted in RGB may experience unacceptable color shifting. All files submitted in RGB are automatically converted to CMYK. PLEASE CONVERT ALL PANTONE COLORS TO CMYK BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR ARTWORK.

What file types are accepted?

.AI (Adobe Illustrator), .PSD (Adobe Photoshop), .EPS, .PDF, JPG, .TIF, TIFF, PING

How do I set up a Spot UV, Emboss, Die-cut or Foil file?

SPOT UV, EMBOSS, DIE-CUT or FOIL File Setup When creating a Spot UV, Emboss or foil job, You must include a template file (MASK) along with the regular full color file. The MASK file is used to show where the upgrade will be placed. For example, if you would like spot gloss on the front and back of your business card, you sill send us two color files (bc_front_color.pdf & BC_Back_color.pdf). You will then create two additional mask files. These files will be black (100& K) and white files (BC_Front_Mask.pdf & BC_Back_Mask). The black will indicate exactly where the spot uv is to go. CAUTION: BE SURE YOUR MASK FILES LINE UP PERFECTLY WITH YOUR COLOR FILES OR THE UV COULD MISS ITS TARGET! Use 100% K to indicate where you would like the UV, Emboss or Foil. Include the word “MASK” in your file name for the upgrade file.

Can I include front and back images in 1 file?

Each side of your artwork must be in a separate file. Do not put both front and back in the same file.

Why are there additional upload fields during checkout?

If you are ordering upgrades such as spot uv or foil, you will need to upload a separate "Mask" file for each side of the card you are upgrading. For example, if you are ordering Full Color Front and Back business card with Spot Gloss on one side, you will need to upload a Color Front and a Color Back file, along with one Mask file for the spot gloss, a total of 3 files.

Can I call my order in?

Yes. If you would prefer to call your order in instead of using our website, we will be glad to help you. Our toll free number is 866-928-6467
